Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect from my first treatment
Your first treatment will run approximately 90 minutes. During this time, we will discuss your health history, your chief complaints and treatment goals. After, you will receive your acupuncture treatment.
Generally, areas of the shoulders, arms, legs, ears, and head will be needled. Sometimes areas of the back and abdomen will also be treated. Please dress in loose fitting clothing that allows access to your neck and upper back, arms and legs (the area just above the knees down to your toes).
We ask that you fill out your health history form prior to your arrival. We maintain a paper free office, so please email your completed form to us before your visit.

At least 30 to 90 minutes before your appointment, please have something light to eat. This will help to prevent any possibilities of lightheadedness or dizziness after treatment. You can also bring fluids so you can stay hydrated afterward.
Besides acupuncture, the treatment may include other modalities including: moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tuina and acupuncture with electric stimulation.
If you are going to receive cupping or gua sha therapies, please bring clothing that can keep the treated areas covered. This applies specifically to the neck, upper back and lower back.
We currently are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance. We can supply you with a “Super-Bill” receipt, which you can give to your insurer. We do accept HSA and FSA cards.
Each person will respond to treatment differently, as each person has a unique constitution and life influences. How long you have had your current condition, and its severity, helps to estimate how many treatments may be needed.
Most patients begin with 5 to10 sessions and will come weekly. Some may come twice a week initially for acute situations. Others may come monthly for general wellness and prevention.
These options will be discussed during your initial visit.
We know that life happens and schedules can change. In fairness to our practice, we have established the following Cancellation and Lateness Policies. Thank you for your consideration.
Please be on time and ready to be seen at your appointment time. If you need time to use the restroom or otherwise get settled, you should arrive with enough time to do so before your appointment.
Late Arrivals – Patients not ready to be seen more than 5 minutes past their appointment time are considered late. We try to accommodate late patients, but it depends on the schedule, and we can not guarantee that we can see you.
In keeping with our 24-hour cancellation policy (see below), late patients may be charged in full for their appointments.
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible so we can accommodate you. You can contact us by phone or text.
Early Cancellations – If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so 24 hours before your appointment time. We will be happy to reschedule you. There is no charge for early cancellations.
Late Cancellations – Any appointment canceled with less than 24-hours notice is considered a late cancellation and may be charged the full amount.
Same Day Rescheduling – As a courtesy, appointments may be rescheduled without charge if an available appointment is available during that same calendar day.
